Pennsylvania Eyes Ban on Some Text Message Marketing

A bill that earlier this month won unanimous approval from the state’s House Consumer Affairs Committee would ban certain forms of text message marketing.  The bill is now before the full state House for a vote. House Bill247 would add text message marketing to the forms of telephone communication covered under the Pennsylvania Telemarketer Registration Act created in 1996.  The do not call list for consumers is part of that act. The bill would likely allow marketers to send text messages if a consumer opts in to receive such messages or if he has purchased an item from the retailer within the past 12 months. The bill in Pennsylvania appears to be of no concern to legitimate mobile marketing companies that follow the MMA Guidelines as established by the Mobile Marketing Association.  In fact, it could be seen as a positive thing to keep the rules violators out of the burgeoning mobile marketing...

eMarketer published a story about the percentage of people who recall receiving an advertisement on their mobile phone.  The study lists the recall of mobile advertising by age, but I’m not sure why the study ended at age 30+?  If the study was done 500 years ago, that would make sense.
