Mobile Makes Christmas Merrier
In a sign of what is more to come in the future, American mobile users totaled 18.4% of all internet traffic on Christmas Day 2011, according to a study by IBM Coremetrics.
Mobile traffic on Christmas Day in general more than doubled by showing a 117.8% increase from Christmas 2010. Of all Web traffic, iPads claimed seven percent of device share, iPhone devices totaled 6.4 percent and Android accounted for five percent of usage.
Online sales grew 16.4% on Christmas Day over 2010.
Mobile is a growing consideration for retailers to make their websites mobile friendly. These are big numbers and will surely grow again when Santa Claus hopefully returns in 2012.
